Beauty Tips: Keeping Skin Smooth Between Facials

Facials are amazing. There is nothing better than when you get to lie down, relax and let someone else do the hard work for you.

But facials are not something that the majority of us can indulge in every week. So how do we make sure that we keep our skin as smooth and as healthy as possible in between facials?

What Causes Rough/Dry/Uneven Skin?

From pollution to stress to sun damage, to skin conditions, hormones or lack of sleep…there are many different causes to poor skin condition. At times it can feel overwhelming, especially if you have a hectic or stressful lifestyle. So what can you do that is quick, easy and effective to improve our skin condition in-between facials?

#1: Eat Your Way To Better Skin

Antioxidants load up the cells in your skin with a burst of energy and goodness, enabling them to repair more quickly. It has been proven that antioxidants can be found in a whole range of food and drinks, including wine, tea, chocolate (YEY!). But the best source comes from certain fruits and vegetables. Antioxidant-rich fruits include blueberries, strawberries, plums, cherries, mangoes, and grapes. Vegetables to focus on as a source of antioxidants include kale, spinach, broccoli and beets.

#2: Sweat It Out

Purging your skin of toxins and surface dirt through sweating is a great way of getting a smoother complexion back. It doesn’t need to be strenuous either! Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking the kids to school instead of taking the car, or (of course even better) regular physical exercise of some form is always a good idea. But why not go one step further and enjoy a sauna instead? You can also do a mini-facial at home by steaming your face over a bowl of hot water then using a pore remover tool to clean out the worst of your pores.

#3: Quality Cleansing & Exfoliating

It literally takes just 10 minutes of your time to properly cleanse and exfoliate your skin each morning and evening. Just soap and water probably won’t cut it either so invest in a cleanser and exfoliator that is right for your skin type and tone. This is probably the easiest way to a smoother, more radiant appearance by removing dead skin cells on the surface and allowing light to reflect from the skin.
