Laser hair removal - Avoid the common mistakes

For most people, laser hair removal is a big step. It is a decision they have been thinking about for some time, and it is a financial investment they have been saving up for.

So here is a list of the common mistakes other patients often make - so you can avoid and be properly clued up before you get started.

#1 Complete the entire treatment

Laser hair removal technology only works when your hair is in the growth phase. That is why laser hair removal requires multiple treatments. It is important that you schedule your appointments at the right time. Your Bem Estar Technician will be able to schedule your treatments when your hair growth is at the optimal phase, ensuring you get the best value for your treatment - make sure you stick to the schedule as much as possible and complete the entire treatment for best results.

#2 Use the best technology

Technology in the laser hair removal business can vary greatly. You need to ensure you are choosing a reputable clinic that uses high-quality professional laser hair removal machines. If not, you will spend a lot of money on many treatment sessions and the results will not be optimal. At Bem Estar, we work with 3 professional laser hair removal machines: Alma Beauty REMOVE™, Alma Beauty SOPRANO ICE™, and Alma Beauty SOPRANO TITANIUM™. This team of technology offers the safest, fastest, and most effective laser hair removal solution available today in world-class clinics. Read more.

#3 Shave before you arrive

Before Covid-19 and corona prevention measures, Bem Estar Technicians would shave the area to be treated if the patient forgot to do so before their treatment. However, this is no longer possible. Furthermore, the area of skin to be treated will be less irritated if it is shaved the night before the treatment. The worst mistake you can make would be to tweeze or wax the area, as the hair follicles need to be there for the laser to kill them.

#4 Avoid the sun’s harmful rays

Laser hair removal uses concentrated light to zap your hair follicles and kill them, preventing regrowth. Sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation, so it is vital to make sure you avoid the sun for 12-14 days before and after your treatment. It is possible to go out in the sun if you wear a broad-spectrum sun protection cream with superior UV filters to protect the skin against harmful UVA and UVB rays.

#5 Disclose your medication

Some medications like antibiotics and antimalarial drugs can cause hyperpigmentation. It is important to discuss with your Bem Estar Technician your current medication use. This will ensure no unwanted side-effects occur.

#6 Take note of aftercare advice

Following a laser hair removal session, your Bem Estar Technician will advise you on what you can and cannot do. While the treatment is non-invasive, it is important to be mindful that saunas, hot tubs, or hot showers should be avoided for 24 hours after the treatment.
